Northcote College Matariki 2024

Magical Matariki celebration

Kapa haka groups from Northcote College, Northcote Intermediate, Willow Park Primary and Birkenhead Primary put on a memorable and inspiring show at the Matariki celebrations held at Northcote College.

Performances by Northcote students Jesse Scott (2nd placegetter in the Smokefree RockQuest Auckland Solo/Duo final), and a duet of Tyra Nansen and Lucy Lewis rounded out the entertainment.

The evening continued with a raranga (weaving workshop) and a market with jewellery featuring Māori inspired designs, and artwork by students.

No Matariki event would be complete without delicious kai – and the evening featured options including hangi, soup and fry bread, cupcakes, and a range of food trucks.

Thank you to everyone at Northcote College and the other schools in our local Kahui Ako (community of learning) who worked so hard to make the event the huge success that it was.

Our grateful thanks also to the event sponsors: Pak N Sav Wairau Park, Bunnings Glenfield, Woolworths Birkenhead, New World Birkenhead, Woolworths Northcote, Gilmours North Shore, Wild Wheat Birkenhead Point, Bakers Delight Birkenhead.
