Digital Technologies
Digital technologies are transforming our homes and workplaces, changing the way that we interact with each other and live our everyday lives. Our students need to grow and adapt to this technology. We're changing how we equip our children and young people to participate, create, and thrive in a fast-evolving digital world. Students won’t just be using devices like computers and smart phones, they will be taught the computer science principles that all digital technologies are built on. They will also develop an awareness of how to interact effectively within the digital world and become competent digital citizens. In the Technology learning area of the New Zealand Curriculum, there are 2 new areas:
- Computational Thinking for Digital Technologies
allows students to develop an understanding of computer science principles that underlie all digital technologies. Students learn core programming concepts so that they can become creators of digital technology, not just users.
- Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes
will enable students to learn how to design quality, fit-for-purpose digital solutions.
Senior Digital Technology Courses
In Web Design students learn how to solve issues by generating digital outcomes. They will understand how to collect data and manage this effectively in databases.
