Shave For A Cure total nears $11,000!
Massive thanks to all the fantastic students (and teacher) who shaved off their locks yesterday and raised over $11,000 for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand!
Stepping up to have their heads completely shaved – in front of a huge crowd who’d gathered to cheer them on – were students Kate Steele, Liam Harper, Maddie Birley, Matilda Allen, Natasha Burton, Nick Clayworth, Sophie Eddington, Thomas Kilbey, Tyler Freestone, Waihuia Thein, and teacher Chadd Davis.
Kaitlyn Halliday and Ruben Arnold also donated hair, which will be used in making natural wigs for people who’ve lost hair during treatment.
Also a big shout-out to the guys from the Razor Room barbershop, who donated their time and skill to this great cause.
Every day 8 adults and children are diagnosed with a blood cancer – and there’s a good chance they may lose their hair through chemotherapy, which can harm their hair follicles. The money raised by Shave For a Cure helps them through what can be a difficult, scary, and isolating experience – and means they don’t have to go it alone.
