School hall and F block renovations underway
And so it begins…!
Now that we’ve moved into the new Mod Block, we’re getting started on the next exciting phase of Northcote College’s building programme.
The school hall is getting an upgrade – along with a total rebuild of the BlackBox theatre, and upgrades to the upper level music room, and the rehearsal and changing rooms under the stage. The foyer toilets will be rebuilt and have improved accessibility, and new accessible ramps will be added on the southern (C Block) side of the hall. The work will take until the end of the year, and is scheduled to be open for the start of the 2023 school year.
A major renovation to the toilets and ground floor of F block are also underway – and also expected to be finished in December.
In December, once the F Block changes are complete, the demolition team moves in to demolish the three-room G Block, whose classes will then be incorporated into the revamped F Block.
They’ll also demolish Learning Support, M Block (Maths), and T Block (food, hospitality, fabric, and design technology) – which have all already moved to the new Mod Block or other spaces in the school.
Another move will be quite literal – moving the Sports Pavilion later this year. The heritage Pavilion was the school’s original building, and has been relocated on the school site several times already in the school’s long life.
Next year we break ground on a whole new teaching block, standing where the old LSC, M Block, and G Block were.
We can’t wait!
