Sailors Cam & Alex off to Youth Worlds in Italy

Massive congratulations to Northcote College sailors Cameron Brown and Alex Norman, who will represent New Zealand at the 2024 Youth Worlds in Lake Garda, Italy, in July.

Cam and Alex have worked incredibly hard for their success – training six days a week for long hours, and still keeping up with their school studies – and deserve our hearty congratulations.

Cam and Alex were selected by Yachting New Zealand after winning the 470 class at the New Zealand Youth Trials recently.  

Yachting New Zealand talent development manager Geoff Woolley was impressed with the quality of racing at the trials. ‘It's encouraging to see the close racing and the improvement of many of the sailors on the water with each day of the regatta,’ Wolley said.

He noted that it had been a long season for the sailors, with two youth trials in the space of seven months – and that work would soon start on the build-up to the worlds at Lake Garda.
