NC 11GEO field trip

Geograhy field trip examines our volcanic history

Year 11 Geography students spent a day out in the field, exploring Auckland's rich volcanic history.

They visited Māngere Mountain to gather primary and secondary data on the archeological and geological history of the land. They made observations on geological formations that were a result of an eruption and evidence of inhabitants that lived on the maunga about 250 years ago.

Students also had the opportunity to learn how to weave using harakeke and have a go at playing traditional Māori games.
