Northcote College is a co-educational secondary school on Auckland’s North Shore. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Science Technician to provide support for staff and students in the Science Department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and organising practical resources as needed to support teachers in the delivery of the science curriculum
  • Manage and maintain resources and equipment
  • Maintaining Prep rooms and Laboratories
  • Management, storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals

The successful candidate will have a science related qualification. Experience working in a laboratory would be beneficial with sound technical skill and a desire to work as part of a team for the benefit of young people. The position requires strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills along with the ability to prioritise. Knowledge of hazardous substances and health and safety procedures. Sound IT skills and knowledge of Google Suite and RiskAssess is desirable. Hours of work would normally be 20 hours per week during school term times only.

The required work is within Grade 2 of the Science Technicians’ Work Matrix.

Conditions will be as those for Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement 2022 - 2024.
